Many Sides
Today Trump had the easiest job a President could have: condemning white supremacists and neo-nazis.
The. Easiest. Job.
Well, it would be if you are not Trump.
This is what he said after a car rammed into a crowd of counter-protesters after a white supremacist/neo-nazi rally.
“We condemn in the strongest possible terms this egregious display of hatred, bigotry and violence on many sides — on many sides”
Many sides my ass.
This is a purposefully crafted vague condemnation. Why? To dog-whistle to the white supremacists and neo-nazis that he is with them.
Oh, he also said, “We must love each other, respect each other, and cherish our history and our future together.”
Sounds good right? “Cherish our history”
What history is being cherished here?
This white supremacist rally in Charlottesville is gathered to specifically protest against the removal of a Robert Lee Statue.
This vague condemnation sure is looking like a tacit support of the white supremacist rally.
